serve at good shepherd

Everyone has something to offer and serving within Good Shepherd can be a great way for you to get to know people and become a part of our community. Whether it be in worship, with our children, or behind the scenes, the role that you play is necessary and we would like to help you use your gifts and talents in the best way possible. See the list of available opportunities below and let us know if you would like more information.

Worship Ministries

Altar Guild - a volunteer group whose ministry is to care for the altar, vestments, vessels, and altar linens of the parish. It also includes providing the floral arrangements on the altar. Its members prepare and clean the sanctuary for all services including Sunday worship as well as special services such as baptisms, weddings, and funerals. Members are divided into teams which serve once a month.

Lay Eucharist Minister (LEM) - Lay person licensed by the bishop to administer the consecrated elements of the eucharist. They may assist during normal Sunday services when sufficient priests and deacons are not present, and may also take the communion elements to those who are homebound or in nursing homes.

Lectors - people trained in reading scripture who are appointed by the clergy to read lessons or lead the prayers of the people.

Ushers - volunteers who assist before and during worship services by handing out bulletins, providing seating assistance to those who need it, and passing the offering plates throughout the pews.

Office Ministry

Front Desk Volunteer - volunteers support the church staff by answering phone calls, greeting office visitors, and helping with small daily tasks. Shifts are available throughout the week in the morning or afternoon.
